News from the Eco-committee. Monday 29th April 2024

We had a delightful visit to the Hammond Arboretum today. We finally had the perfect weather to have a walk around the woodland area and even crossed the bridge onto the island in the middle of the Arboretum. The walk was a sensory sensation, with birds filling the air with their spring songs, the glorious sunshine creating a peaceful tranquil atmosphere with cool emerald greens of the tree foliage and bright blues of the forget-me-nots and bluebells.

We collected some fallen sticks so that we can make some bug hotels for the outside area of the library. We discussed plans to try to visit the Arboretum later in the year, at dusk, to see if there is any wildlife we can observe. Also to see if we can put a night camera in the arboretum to see what wildlife occurs after dark.

It was a great start to our day and a stimulating nature adventure.
