We had ten Eco-ambassadors from Ridgeway Primary school visiting the arboretum. Our Eco-committee members took part in the tree search with the Primary students who searched the arboretum for the fascinating trees and our Robert Smyth students read out the interesting facts about each tree and how Mr Hammond had travelled the world and planted this unique collection of trees. The students also made some fabulous leaf art and enjoyed the magical atmosphere being immersed in nature. We saw a swarm of very docile and calm bees who looking for a new home they were very busy ‘waggle dancing’ and clustering together. We also saw a very interesting leopard slug and were told about the importance of these animals in the role of decomposition.
