Remember, all summer work is expected to be completed for the first lesson back in September.

As part of the practical assessment in A Level PEallstudents must produce video evidence of themselves performing in their chosen activity. Students may wish to begin to undertake this video over the summer period. If so, students need to see Mr Scully ASAP regarding the criteria for each sport.

The course is divided into a number of sections which are taught by different teachers. For the summer work we would like you to complete a worksheet from three of the different sections you will study.

  • Applied Anatomy and Physiology
  • Skill Acquisition
  • Sport and Society

Students need to ensure that they purchase a folder to contain all their A Level work (with sub dividers for each section of the course).

Unit 1: Anatomy and Physiology

A general overview of the skeletal system is required and should include functions of the skeleton, axial and appendicular skeleton and the types of bone and cartilage.

Answer the review tests and questions in the document below. If you don’t know something, research it.

Unit 2: Acquiring Movement Skills

A classification of motor skills and abilities is required and is achieved by developing an awareness of the factors that affect involvement in Physical Education.

To understand these you need to read through the relevant documents in order and attempt the worksheets associated with them.

Unit 3: Sport and Society

A knowledge and understanding of the socio-cultural factors that have an impact on regular participation in physical activity is key to this area and relates closely to lifelong participation as part of a balanced, healthy active lifestyle.

The following sheets give an introduction and insight into how this is achieved. Read and complete the appropriate sheets and questions in their respective order.
