The Academy Day

  • At Robert Smyth Academy we have five one-hour periods per day and a 25 minute tutor time first thing in the morning. Our registers are taken electronically using iSAMS Registration Manager.
  • Students should be on the Academy site no later than 8.40am in readiness for tutor time which starts promptly at 8.45am.
  • We operate a split lunchtime with younger students having three lessons in the morning before lunch with older students having four lessons before their lunchtime.

 

For Years 7 and 8

  • 8.45 You need to be at your tutor base
  • 9.10 Start of period 1
  • 10.10 Start of period 2
  • 11.10 Start of break
  • 11.30 Start of period 3
  • 12.30 Start of lunchtime
  • 1.15 Start of period 4
  • 2.15 Start of period 5
  • 3.15 End of your normal school day

  For Years 9 to 13

  • 8.45 You need to be at your tutor base
  • 9.10 Start of period 1
  • 10.10 Start of period 2
  • 11.10 Start of break
  • 11.30 Start of period 3
  • 12.30 Start of period 4
  • 1.30 Start of lunchtime
  • 2.15 Start of period 5
  • 3.15 End of your normal school day.  For some students in Year 12 or 13, on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, this is the start of period 6 which ends at 4.15.

Assemblies

Assemblies are delivered weekly by College Leaders, each half term ending with a rewards assembly led by the College Champions. Each week will focus on a key theme or value. Students are expected to arrive promptly and sit in their allotted rows.  Tutors register students in assemblies and remain with them, handing out any important notices at the beginning or end.
