If your son/daughter uses the number 58 service bus from Lutterworth to Market Harborough in the mornings to travel to the Academy, please be aware that this will not be available after 22nd April 2017 as Arriva are withdrawing the service.

MAINSTREAM TRANSPORT POLICY
There have been no changes to the mainstream home to school transport policy since it changed in September 2015. A quick reminder is that free transport will be provided to the nearest/nearest Leicestershire or frozen school where the distance is more than 2 miles for primary and 3 miles for secondary age pupils. Parents of secondary transfer pupils for September 2017 were reminded last September before they applied for their school places and again with their admission offer on 1st March and will get formal confirmation on whether they will be entitled to free transport (11+ and 14+ transfer groups) by the end of April.
First time admission pupils in primary/infant schools will be contacted similarly during May and June.

Application forms for mainstream Post 16, and farepaying students will be available online on our website from 3rd April 2017. The closing date for these applications is 30th June 2017. We would be grateful if you would remind students of the need to apply on time and that returning students need to reapply every year.
FAREPAYING APPLICATIONS 2017-18
The charge for farepaying applications (pupils who are not entitled to transport assistance but wish to apply for a space where they exist on Council school contract buses) will increase to £800 pa (no exemption for low income families) from September 2017. Forms will be available online on our website from 3rd April 2017. Please be aware that farepaying places cannot be guaranteed and where a child has a place this year, it may not be possible to allocate one in the next academic year.
SEN TRANSPORT POLICY
There has been no change to the eligibility rules for SEN students, but the Post 16 and Nursery charge will be increased in line with the mainstream charge to £660 pa (with an exemption for low income families) from September 2017. Please note that the SEN policy will be applied strictly to all pupils with transport to the base where the pupil is on roll and no additional transport to other locations. Transport will continue to be provided only at the beginning and end of the normal school day unless there is an exceptional medical need for a pupil needing a shorter school day.
As you will be aware, the Council has also introduced a scheme where parents can express an interest in having a Personal Transport Budget (PTB) if their child qualifies for school transport where parents use the money to facilitate their child’s attendance at school rather than the Council providing transport. The PTB is not guaranteed and will only be agreed if the request meets the criteria. The website contains more information.
SEN APPLICATIONS 2017-18
Application forms for SEN Nursery and Post 16 students will be available online on our website at: www.leicestershire.gov.uk/send-school-transport from 3rd April 2017. The closing date for these applications is 31st May 2017. We would be grateful if you would remind parents/carers of the need to apply on time and that returning students need to reapply every year.
