Statement from the Chair of Governors and Acting Principal

Letter to parents regarding recent press releases
We are aware of and understand the questions that you may have regarding Robert Smyth Academy at this time. The Governors accepted Sue Jones’ resignation on Monday evening and thanked her for the hard work and the dedication she has shown to the Academy. We wish to reassure you that this resignation will not affect the high standards of education, or the smooth running of the Academy and are confident that Richard Taylor, the current Vice Principal, will successfully take on the role of leading the Academy.

We would like to remind you of the Academy’s recent achievements:

  • Highly improved GCSE results at the end of Year 11;
  • Continuing excellence in A-Level outcomes at the end of Year 13, both enabling;
  • 98% of our students to successfully progress onto university, high-quality apprenticeships and employment.

Our teachers’ high levels of experience and expertise will remain totally focused on continuing this progress.      Read more…
