Welcome to Robert Smyth Academy
Robert Smyth Academy was founded in 1607 as the Market Harborough Grammar School and has served the community of Market Harborough and surrounding villages for over 400 years. We are proud of the strong local reputation that the Academy has developed we look forward to welcoming your child to an environment in which students are polite, keen to learn and take pride in their work.
High quality teaching and learning is the most important feature of our Academy. The achievements of students reflect the high quality of teaching and personalised support offered by our teaching team and members of staff. These key features have led to another year of significant successes including:
- A Level progress results that place the Robert Smyth Academy in the top 15% of providers in England and above the average grade in Leicestershire state funded schools and colleges
- GCSE results in English and Maths reflecting 49% of students attaining Grade 5 or above. These results were higher than national (+10%) and local (+4%) average scores
- The proportion of GCSE A*-A grades were above the national average in the majority of subjects
Today, children who join Robert Smyth Academy will benefit from the unique advantage of joining a school setting that offers the experience of developing friendships and relationships from the age of 11 through to 19 years of age. Every child who embarks on this journey will have the opportunity of benefitting from an ‘all through’ experience giving them continuity, security and a support network to promote their well-being and enable them to become successful learners.
Ultimately, my job is to ensure that all students benefit from an outstanding education so that they can lead a happy and fulfilling life. Robert Smyth Academy was inspected by Ofsted in September 2017 and has been evaluated as ‘Good’ in all areas. My aspirations for all children who join our Academy are limitless and this is an exciting time to join an educational setting as we continue to grow, flourish and develop into a centre of excellence for the East Midlands.
I hope that you find this website useful and whilst we endeavour to reflect the life of our Academy and the quality of student experiences, nothing quite matches the chance to experience it in person. If you would like the chance to see our Academy in action, we would be delighted to hear from you.
